Today we had a really fun day because we made pancakes. Pancake Day is a Christian tradition. They believe that Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights in the desert before Easter. This is called Lent. People used to fast during this time and would cut out eggs, milk and sugar. This is why the day before Lent begins they used up all their ingredients before the fast began. And that is why we eat pancakes on Pancake Tuesday.
The Nursery children made some vegan pancake batter. First they mashed a banana, then added cinnamon, almond milk and flour and mixed the ingredients together.
We cooked our own pancakes at the cooker with Katrin. Only Katrin was able to flip her pancake in the air though. There were lots of toppings to choose from. We both made a smiley face with golden syrup and Tadhgan made a grumpy face because the pancake didn’t want to be eaten!
The pancakes were scrumdiddlyumptious!
