The Big Garden Bird Watch

Norah from the Scottish Wildlife Trust came to Eigg primary school to do the Big Garden Bird Watch.

Because it is harder to hunt when it is so wet, birds need lots of food. This is why we made bird food from peanut butter and seeds.

We made bird feeders out of pine cones. We tied 2 pine cones together with string and covered them in peanut butter and seeds. We used peanut butter without salt because birds can’t have salt. We put the bird feeders in trees and the rose bush outside. All the food is gone already. We also filled other bird feeders with seeds and hung them in the trees.

P2 learner: Some of the birds I know are robin, black bird, coal finch, wood pigeon. I think we have all these birds on Eigg. My favourite bird is black bird because I have a teddy black bird. I also like coal finches.

Early Years Learner: My favourite bird is a robin because it has an orange chest.
