Visit by Lynette the storyteller

Ross (nursery)

The storyteller was wearing an orange coat for when it was raining and snowing. She flew here with her broomstick. She maybe lived in the sky and had lots of owl friends. She used to live in America.

There was a story about an old man and he had a broomstick and he lost his toe nail. There was also a troll that drinks blood.

The storyteller came back the next day and told us more stories.

Agnes (P 6)

The storyteller was a witch called Meg. She had blue hair and was wearing muppet trousers and an apron. She had a magic wand and it had a light. She lives on an island in Scotland.

Meg was telling us the story about this witch who lived on Eigg and she was called Coral . One day this farmer came and he said “I lost 2 of my sheep and something took all the skin and the flesh away. Only the bones are left.” Coral asked him to get wool from the sheep. The next day the fisherman came and said my boat has been tipped upside down and all the fish has been taken and only the fish bones are left.” So the witch asked him to get 2 of the skeletons. The next day this lady came with her baby and said “My baby is really ill.” The witch asked the lady to take a bit of his hair. She then made a potion with all the materials that the people gave her. She flew up over Eigg and saw the creature which had been doing all this bad stuff. It was big and red and blood thirsty and creepy. The witch poured the potion over the creature and it started screaming and shrinking until it was small enough to fit in your hand. So she scooped it up in the empty cauldron and turned it round her head, not once, not twice, but 35 times. Then she threw it up in the air between the isle of Mull and the mainland. It started spinning and it made a whirlpool. It is still there today. The poor creature is probably still stuck in the whirlpool making plans of how it is going to get out. It had so many years to do that.

We also got a coin. We got to pick one out of lots of different ones. They were from 1977, some of them earlier than that. They were really pretty. I got one with a guy on a horse and on the other side it has some mistletoe a dove that is flying up.

We also had to make up our own characters in our heads and we told her about it. I made up my own Simpson character. She had green hair and a red necklace and a nice pink skirt and an orange top.

I enjoyed the stories it was lots of fun to listen to. I found it funny when the nursery children got to jump in the sack. It was part of the story.
