Swimming trip

Ellis: When we arrived in Mallaig, we first went to see the place where we were staying. All the school children were staying at the Mission hostel.

Jess: I was staying with my granny.

Ellis: First we went in the living room and then Mr Merrick showed us the rooms. Then we went to the coop to get our food. Then we had a play and then we went to the high school hostel for dinner. I had a ham and cheese baguette, it was nice. And after dinner we went swimming. Then we went back to the hostel and went to bed. In the morning we had breakfast and then we did some more swimming. I had fruit for breakfast.

In the swimming pool we had some things to keep us float. We call them noodles but the swimming teacher calls them woggles. I already knew a lot about swimming before.

Jess: At the end when we were going did you know that we had a big giant beach ball. And I was trying to touch it because it came too fast. It is so huge. After we went swimming we went back to grannys and then we went to see the life boat.

Ellis: It is the RNLI life boat in Mallaig. I got to see the bit where they drive and we got to go down to the engine room and where the anchor is.

We were also playing shinty and rugby tig.

In the living room there was a pool table. Oran was playing pool with Mr Merrick and Oran won.

We played in the playground when the swimming pool was shut.

Ellis: When we were on the boat back home we went on the bridge to meet the captain. We pressed the button to sound the horn. If the boat is too close to another boat they can toot the horn.
