Last week we celebrated World Book Day! Our P4 and P5 learners had a chat about what they got up to and shared a video that we created to showcase some of our favourite books…

P5 Learner
World Book Day was very fun! Especially in the morning because this was primarily when we got to do all the book stuff and there were lots of fun book activities, like crosswords, and one was about my second favourite book, known as none other than “Loki, A Bad God’s Guide To –“ series. It’s about Loki, who goes down to earth in the form of a human and he has to get his way back up to Asgard, but he has a diary and he has to write about the good deeds that he needed to do to get back up there.

P4 Learner
I was mostly doing reading, active reading, I’ve got a few books to add to the book challenge list. I also finished a series of the Secret Cave. It was brilliant fun. I dressed up as John Higgins and you dressed up as –

P5 Learner
Brother Monday from Afterlife Inc.! We also had a Where’s Wally finding competition. It was very fun because they were hidden all around the place and we each had to find one. Mine was hidden in the Afterlife Inc. poster I made, and he was disguised as one of the characters.

P4 Learner
Mine was on the animal alphabet poster, hidden underneath the “W”. It’s supposed to be a Wallaby.

P5 Learner
It’s important to have World Book Day because…I love books! It’s very fun to dress up as your favourite book character, all the related themes and the activities, special stuff.

I agree. It’s definitely a good idea because it’s not really a serious thing, it’s loads of fun and it should be fun…unless you’re reading a serious book.

P5 Learner
Oh, we also had a workshop with Michael Rosen. He had loads of storytellers telling us stories about food from around the world and there was an artist who was live drawing alongside the stories. He was so fast and he tried to teach us how to do it too which was really fun. There was a competition too where we had to make our books which was about food stories. I made a story about the Hot Sauce of Doom.

P4 Learner
I created a story about a Giant Pizza but I’ve not finished it yet. I need to figure out what he’s going to get up to. We got a shout out on the screen too.
