Beach Clean

written by Ellis and Ross

We went to Kildonan Beach. We got big bin bags and we split into groups and then we started tidying up the beach. We were getting all the plastic off the beach. We got to our third bag and then we ran out of bags.

We found lots of fishing plastic like hooks, bits of creels, big fishing nets from trawlers and lots of rope as well.

We found a big float buried in the beach, it was red and almost as big as Ross.

We were weighing how much plastic we had. It was heavier than all the children in the school.

We did a beach clean at Laig beach as well.

We saw bird’s eggs at the beach. They were green and black. They were probably oyster catcher eggs.

We had a funeral for a dead crab, it was a bit sad.

It is important to clean the beach, because plastic is very bad for the environment and it can harm the animals.

I liked carrying all the rubbish back to the person called Neil.

Neil is a nice man that had a big van that he puts all the plastic in, and drives it to the mainland to recycle. There was also Vicky. She helped with all the work. We had this sheet and we ticked off the stuff that we found at Kildonan Beach. We even found a long yellow lobster tag from South America.
