Ellis and Arlo
On the first day we got balloons and filled them up with water and weighed them.
Then we put them in the freezer.
Then we waited for a whole day and then we weighed them again. They got smaller and lighter.
And then we made cooler boxes. We made them out of cardboard boxes and we put our own materials in them to make them insulated. I used bubble wrap, blankets, tin foil and cling film.
We put some ice balls in the cooler boxes and left them over night, and some in socks.
We left them on a tough tray next to the radiator. One of them was in 4 socks and one of them wasn’t. We were using the ice as snow man and we wanted to see which snow man melted first.
The next day we checked if they melted and we wanted to see if they lasted the weekend. Some of them lasted the weekend. I think Colm’s, Agnes’ and Freya’s lasted the weekend. I think they got the best materials. Colm got every material and stuffed it in a box and put his ice ball in. Freya and Agnes got some wool lining.
The experiment was interesting because a lot of them melted and three lasted. We learned that ones in socks and insulators stay colder than the ones that can get air to it.
The experiment was fun.
