We were in the playground and noticed that all the bird food in the bird feeders was gone. There were no seeds left. The birds ate all the seeds.
So we filled up the bird feeders. We also used fat balls. We filled up 4 bird feeders.
This afternoon we didn’t see many birds. Norah told us that birds are busy in the morning. We might see some robins, blackbirds and chaffinches tomorrow morning.

We put bird food out into the bird feeders, which we fill up every day. Norah gave us sheets with little pictures of birds and we had to make marks how many birds we found.
We split up in two teams. There was one team in the outdoor classroom and the other team was in the learning centre.
We used binoculars to look at the birds. At the end of it, we told each other how many birds we spotted. And then we added it together.
We saw many chaffinches, a few robins, about 3 blackbirds, starlings everywhere, and a couple of wrens and a lot more.
I tried to make my own bird feeder. I used one plant pot and one pine cone, one piece of string and one fat ball. I then hung it up. I watched 2 birds feeding on it. A robin and a male chaffinch.
I think the male chaffinches have a red belly and the females are all brown.
It is good to feed the birds because in winter they can’t find much food outside.
